PhD Candidate in Sociology, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Hello!
My name is Anna Milewski, and I'm a PhD candidate in sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My research and teaching interests are in political sociology, social movements, sociology of religion, and comparative-historical sociology.
My work on social movement organizations as focal points is published in Mobilization. My dissertation examines religion as a social movement resource in light of changes in religious authority and partisanship in the United States in the transition to the 21st century.
I am also interested in methods of protest event data collection and newspapers as a source of data. My work leverages novel data sources to build new theory in social movement studies, is typically case-based and often historical, and employs primarily quantitative as well as mixed methods.
I hold an M.S. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology and Economics from Washington and Lee University.
